Welcome to our fourth newsletter. Just to let you know our news first:

  • We are now charging in US dollars and we have set in place a new security system so that when the credit card details are processed the money goes directly to the bank. The details are passed over the Internet in an SSL encrypted format. We don't get to see your credit card details and as soon as the order is processed, the system deletes your credit card details. With the new system the way in which existing clients (and their friends) claim their 10% discount has changed. Send us an email for details.
  • We have redone our logos (slightly) so that they print out better in our documents and we are rewriting all of our older kits so that they will only be 3 acts in length like our newer kits.
  • We have three winners of our current photo competition as shown below and we are commencing a new competition with a closing date of 1 Feb 2001 (see photos.htm for details).

  • We have finished writing a new mystery called "Who Found The Treasure?"(see treasure.htm for details) and it is available for sale.
  • We have written a new childrens' mystery called "Who Stole The Cookies From The Cookie Cupboard?" (see below for details).
  • We are about to start writing a new Valentines' Day mystery called "The Missing Matchmaker". Send us an email to info@merrimysteries.com if you want to be told when it is ready.
In this issue, we have articles about:

Our photo competition winners

We had such wonderful entries in the photo competition that we have decided to present three free kits rather than just one. The winners are:

  • Rosemarie Sicignano from the US with pictures from her "Cocktails at the Graveside" party (this mystery is now called "Celebrity Celebrations ").
  • Lori Beckley-McIntyre from the US with a picture from her "Mystery in the Library" (Literature version) party
  • Sallie Hand and the South Australian Ambulance Association with a picture from their "Mystery in the Library" (Fairytale version) party.
On this page, you can click on each photo to see it full-size.

I particularly liked Marilyn Monroe's costume and the people dressed as Pinocchio in both of the Mystery in the Library parties.

Lori also sent in the following feedback regarding her party. She ran "The Disappearance of King Henry"(now called "Mystery in the Library" Fairytale version). "Your script was amazing! I have sampled murder mystery plots and dinner party ideas from three other suppliers. Yours was the best, by far! Thank you for providing the basis for a fabulous evening that was greatly enjoyed by all!!"

"Who Killed Santa?" feedback

Helen Cross had never held a mystery dinner before, but she found that running "Who Killed Santa?" was no problem.

"Thank you so much! Everyone had a blast! The night was a success. Everyone came in character and to make it a little more fun I made some women play male roles. Gibson Downs was especially funny being played by a woman.

Then one of our characters had to cancel last minute, so my best friend doubled as Ingrid and Josh. Everyone thought it was part of the script! A schizophrenic terrorist!

Thanks again for all of your help!

Helen Cross"

"Who Stole The Cookies From The Cookie Cupboard?"

I have written a new mystery for a girl scouts cookie fundraising event. This mystery has the same characters as the Fairytale version of "Mystery in the Library" but the plot, particularly in Acts 2 and 3, is different. There is one extra character called Mrs Bookworm - the librarian - making a total of 18. I really enjoyed writing this mystery because I love cookies and it was fun thinking about them and why the book characters would want them and the tricks they would get up to in order to get their hands on them. Although this mystery is written for children, I think adults would find it fun too.

See cookies.htm for further details.
